THE PRACTICE TEAM

The Doctors

Dr Christopher J Champion (Male) MBBS (London 1976) MRCGP DOccMed

Dr Champion is our senior partner who joined the practice in 1980. He is responsible for the management of asthma and COPD and has a special interest in occupational medicine.

Dr Michael S Ellis (Male) MBBS (London 1980) DRCOG DCH DTM&H MRCGP

Dr Ellis joined the practice in 1994. He is a GP specialist in dermatology with appointments at the local hospital. He runs our skin clinic dealing with warts and other skin lesions, and provides a sigmoidoscopy and endometrial biopsy service at the practice thus reducing the need for patients to wait for hospital appointments. He also runs travel clinics at the surgery for travellers with complicated itineraries.

Dr Janet L Webb (Female) BM (Southampton 1980) MRCP MRCGP

Dr Webb joined as a part-time partner in 1996. Her special interests include HRT and family planning. She is responsible for audit and protocols within the practice ensuring we are up to date with the latest local and national guidelines and our high standards are maintained.

Dr Lindsey A Roberts (Female) MBChB (Leeds 1980) DRCOG MRCGP DA DOccMed

Dr Roberts joined as a part-time partner in May 1996. Her special interests include child health surveillance, psychiatry and family planning including, coil fitting. Her interest in alternative therapies, homoeopathy in particular, has proved popular with many of our patients.

Mr Michael H V Delhanty (Male) MBChB (Bristol 1988) DRCOG, DFFP, MRCGP

Dr Delhanty joined the practice in 1999. His special interests are psychiatry, family planning including coil fitting and endometrial biopsy. He is responsible for the management of diabetes.

The GP Registrar

We are approved as a training practice for qualified doctors with hospital experience who wish to become GPs under the supervision of Dr Champion, Dr Ellis, and Dr Delhanty.

Salaried Doctor

Dr Rahana Bibi is our salaried doctor. She sees patients at the surgery on a regular basis.

The Nursing Staff

We have three practice nurses:

Sister Lynn Dhany RGN, ONC, Asthma Dip, MHI PC

Sister Dhany (along with Sister Hewitt-Stubbs) is responsible for the practice asthma clinics. She is also responsible for the annual over 75 year health check and is the lead nurse for the University of Gloucestershire students. She runs our stop smoking clinic.

Sister Julie Hewitt-Stubbs RGN, Asthma Dip

Sister Hewitt-Stubbs (along with Sister Dhany) is responsible for the management of patients with asthma, COPD and diabetes, providing advice and support where necessary. She also assists Dr Ellis in the travel clinic.

Sister Lin Emmett RG, FPA Cert, CHD Cert

Sister Emmett is responsible for the management of patients with coronary heart disease and diabetes, providing advice and support where necessary.

In addition to the specific roles, our nurses provide a wide range of services including cervical smear tests, travel advice and vaccinations, blood pressure monitoring, ear syringing and health checks. Our nurses are very experienced and will give telephone advice regarding medical problems referring on to the doctor when appropriate.

You can make an appointment directly with the nurse via reception without needing to see a doctor first.

District Nurse Team - 01452 300213

The team is led by Sister Ceri Skinner and provides nursing care to those patients living at home who are too infirm to attend the surgery.
The district nurse and community nurses can be contacted directly at the surgery on the number above, without need for GP referral.

Health Visitors - 01452 859901

Health visitors for the practice can be contacted on the number above, without a GP referral. Their main responsibility is child health and development for the under fives.

Community Midwife

Our community midwife is Kay Davis. She can be contacted via the surgery reception.

The Administrative Team

Practice Manager

Philip Tagg is responsible for the overall management of the practice. He will deal with queries of a non-clinical nature and would encourage your comments and criticisms regarding the practice that may help us improve our service to you.

Medical Secretary

Pauline Edgeworth co-ordinates the practice’s hospital referrals using the NHS 'Choose and Book' system.

Receptionists

We have eight receptionists and they are there to help you. They may ask the nature of your problem so that we can assist you in the most appropriate way. Like all members of the practice they will treat all information with the strictest confidentiality
